Link Monsters start the Duel in your Extra Deck, and you Link Summon them to your field by sending face-up monsters you control to the graveyard; Each Link Monster will tell you what kind of monsters you need and exactly how many you should use. Link Monsters have no Level or Rank and also have no DEF. They can never be face down in Defense Position; They're always face up in Attack Position, so you'll always know which way their arrows are pointing! The arrows on the Link Monsters are the most essential thing because they point to the Monster Zones on the field that are linked to them. Depending on their effects, a Link Monster can gain ATK for each monster in a linked area, or protect them from destruction. Link Monsters have effects with limitless possibilities, but their effects aren't the only interesting thing about Link Monsters!
Link Monsters can also make it possible to control several different monsters summoned from the Extra Deck at the same time! Any adjacent Monster Zone that a Link Monster's arrow points to opens to new Monster Summons from the Extra Deck. Get as many arrows pointing towards your own zones as you can, avoiding pointing at your opponent's zones, this is an important new element of strategy that you will want to master with the Starter Deck - Attack of the Link -!
